Homicide investigation underway in east Charlotte, police say

The suspect is being held under a $250,000 bond, records show.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man has been arrested in connection with the killing of man in east Charlotte Sunday afternoon, police said. 

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police responded to a shooting at the Hillrock Estates apartment complex on Magnolia Drive Sunday afternoon. When officers arrived, they found 54-year-old Cornelius Bolden suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic. 

On Wednesday, CMPD announced it had arrested Marcus Leon Hook, 20, and charged him with murder in connection with Bolden's death. Records show Hook was booked into the Mecklenburg County jail on Oct. 15 and that he's being held under a $250,000 bond.

CMPD says the investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Witnesses may also call 704-432-TIPS to speak directly with a CMPD homicide detective. All calls to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest.
