Statesville man taken into custody for outstanding warrants for sexual exploitation of a minor

He had previously been out on bond for second degree sexual exploitation of a minor in 2022.

STATESVILLE, N.C. — A Statesville man was taken into custody for 10 outstanding warrants for third degree sexual exploitation of a minor this week, according to the Statesville Police Department.

The arrest comes after the Statesville Police Department worked with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation on an investigation into child pornography, and executed a search warrant Tuesday at a house on Clegg Street in Statesville.

Joshua Adam Lane was arrested Tuesday, and additional evidence was seized from the Statesville home. He had previously been out on bond for second degree sexual exploitation of a minor in 2022.

Lane was given a $100,000 secured bond for the new charges. Police said additional charges may follow as the investigation continues.

Note: WCNC instituted a policy in March 2021 regarding the broadcast or posting of mugshots.

WCNC will only air or post a mugshot if the person has been formally charged with a crime and in a few other cases. The exceptions include: If it appears the person could be a danger to themselves or others or if they are wanted by authorities; to differentiate between people with a common name; if the photos could encourage more victims to come forward. The news-editorial leadership may also decide to use a mugshot based on the severity of the crime(s) committed and/or the level of public interest in the crime and ensuing criminal proceedings.

WCNC Charlotte has chosen to use this mugshot due to the nature of the crime.
