Teen killed, another injured in shooting at apartment complex in east Charlotte, police say

Police have identified the victim as 17-year-old Octavion McClellan.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A teen is dead following a shooting at an apartment complex in east Charlotte, the Charlotte Mecklenburg Department reports. 

According to police, the shooting happened in the 7100 block of Barrington Dr. on Thursday night.

Police have identified the victim as 17-year-old Octavion McClellan. Police said his family has been notified of his death.  

According to police, McClellan was located by police with a gunshot wound in the parking lot of an apartment complex. The victim was transported to Atrium Health Carolina’s Medical Center where he was pronounced dead by hospital staff.  

 Police report an additional male victim later showed up at Atrium Health University City with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.  

Detectives with the Homicide Unit responded to the scene and are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident. 

 At this time, the relationship between the two victims is unknown.
