XFL's 'He Hate Me', Rod Smart, found safe

Deputies said it was unusual for him to be out of touch for long and his family was worried about his safety and well-being.

LANCASTER, S.C. — The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office was asking for the public's assistance in locating former Panthers player Torrold Smart.

According to deputies Smart was last seen on Wednesday, June 12 at 10:30 a.m. in Indian Land, SC. Deputies reported Smart was driving his silver 2016 Nissan Maxima with NC tag PJRI759.

Smart joined the Panthers in September of 2002. He was with the team through the 2005 season and was part of the Panthers team that reached Super Bowl 38 in the 2003-2004 season. 

Before signing with Carolina, Smart rose to fame with the Las Vegas Outlaws of the XFL. His "He Hate Me" jersey was the league's best seller during the 2001 season. 

Deputies said it was unusual for Smart to be out of touch for long and his family was worried about his safety and well-being. 

UPDATE: On Tuesday afternoon, the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office said Smart was found safe.
