Woman arrested in Salisbury homicide

Police told NBC Charlotte 21-year-old Quavist Phillips was found dead from a gunshot wound.

SALISBURY, N.C. -- A woman was arrested Tuesday evening in connection with a homicide in Salisbury.

Doreen Tamara Richardson, 23, was charged with first degree murder and taken to the Rowan County Jail under no bond.

It happened around 11 a.m. in the 300 block of Ackert Avenue. Police told NBC Charlotte 21-year-old Quavist Phillips was found dead from a gunshot wound.

Neighbors who live close to the scene said it was shocking to find out what happened outside their homes.

“I told my wife, I said something going on out here,” one neighbor said. “Maybe a minute or two later first police started arriving, then I see police everywhere.”

Police said this is the third homicide in a month. The incidents are all unrelated, according to investigators.
