Keith Scott protesters march through uptown

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Hundreds of people took to the streets of uptown Wednesday night, again, in protest. The demonstration comes on the heels of the District Attorney's decision not to press charges against the cop who shot and killed Keith Scott back in September.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, in anticipation of the protests, put up barricades, blocking off entrances to their headquarters where the protests began.

For the most part, protests Wednesday night were peaceful, although, a few agitators got into officers' faces, some of whom crossed the line and were arrested.

As they marched, demonstrators aired their frustrations through chants.

"We can go back to Jonathan Ferrell," said protester Cass Ottley, "This is a problem in Charlotte. We've had enough meetings. I have been to numerous City Council meetings, talked to the mayor on a number of occasions. They know what the problem is.

A problem that has not yet seen a solution. That's where Braxton Winston says enough is enough and it's time for a change.

"They are out here speaking up," Winston says. "They're calling for the government to come out here and talk to us. The people that matter that can answer the questions and that can make real change."

As hundreds marched, tempers began to boil over and overflow onto the streets of uptown. Police followed on foot and on bikes, keeping demonstrators out of the streets and on the sidewalks.

Still, some protesters pushed police too far; CMPD confirmed Wednesday night that four people were arrested, including one woman who was seen yelling at officers. Three of the arrested were charged with obstructing traffic, while the fourth was charged with disorderly conduct.

"Except for the few instances I have witnessed, though people are still upset, very passionate and still angry, for the most part, people are behaving with order," said Pastor Milton Williams.
