CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two people were hurt and around 30 people were displaced after a two-alarm fire at an apartment complex in south Charlotte, the Charlotte Fire Department said.
The fire happened on Fishers Farm Lane just south of Pineville-Matthews Road. A second alarm was activated as crews responded to the scene.
It took 50 minutes for crews to control the fire. Medic said that two people had non-life-threatening injuries. No firefighters were injured in the fire.
Fire investigators determined the fire was accidental, and started with a grill on the second floor balcony of the apartments.
It's unclear how many apartments were impacted at this time, but fire officials said the fire caused $850,000 in damages.
The Red Cross is opening a shelter for those affected by the fire, including providing toiletries, health services, mental health services, and connections to additional resources.
