North End Farmers Market opens for 4th year in Camp North End

Camp North End said the farmers market started during the peak of the pandemic and has grown each year.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The North End Farmers Market is officially back for its fourth year, kicking off on Thursday, April 18.

The outdoor marketplace takes place in the heart of Camp North End in the Keswick District.

Organizers say all vendors are local to the Charlotte region.

"You're supporting your local food economy and your local food systems, which is so important for the strength of a region," Camp North End community manager Varian Shrum said.

There are several farmers, ranchers and food artisans that come back every year as the farmers market's “anchor vendors."

Other vendors rotate out weekly, selling food, beverages and retail items like handmade soap, jewelry and more.

Shrum said the market is great for those who live and work near Uptown Charlotte, but it’s an event that has something for everyone.

"We try to create an atmosphere that’s welcoming for all kinds of people to gather and connect and meet local farmers, local vendors," Shrum said.

Community members who have Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, benefits can redeem those benefits at at a two-for-one exchange via funding from Mecklenburg County Public Health.

Those who participate in SNAP can also use their EBT card on a weekly basis and receive $2 in market coins for every dollar they redeem. The North End Farmers Market will be open every Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. from April to October.
