Man tries to rob convenience store, bails when the cash register won't open fast enough

ALBEMARLE, N.C. -- Albemarle Police arrested 27-year-old Eric Springer after they said he attempted to rob the Quik Check Convenient Store on US 52 and W. Main Street in Albemarle.

Police responded to the location around 10:00 a.m. Friday morning after Springer had walked into the store and claimed he had a gun, and demanding money from the register.

When the cash register did not open fast enough Springer fled.

Officers arrested him a short time later and he is currently being held in the Stanly County Jail on a $15,000 secured bond.

His next court appearance is set for June 17.
