Elderly man reported missing Friday found safe, CMPD reports

Officers canceled the alert shortly after 11 p.m.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has canceled an alert for a missing elderly man Friday evening.

CMPD said he was likely driving in a sedan that had noticeable rear-end damage on it. Officers said a license plate reader scanned it in south Charlotte as well.

Police noted he had a dementia diagnosis and had trouble with his memory.

The department later canceled the alert it had shared.
