Man found shot to death in southwest Charlotte, CMPD says

He was found unresponsive along Camden Creek Lane just after noon.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said a man was found shot and killed in the southwest part of the city Tuesday afternoon.

Officers responded to an address at 12:15 p.m. along Camden Creek Lane, located inside the Stone Ridge apartment community. They were called in to assist Medic. Once on the scene, officers said the male victim was found dead of a gunshot wound.

CMPD later determined the case would be investigated as a homicide, prompting a response from homicide unit detectives and crime scene investigators. Members of the operations command staff were also on the scene along with victim services representatives and Charlotte Fire.

The victim has since been identified as Michael Burroughs, age 39.
