Dog shot; woman grazed by bullet in shooting at apartment complex near UNC Charlotte

Investigators said the shooter ran off.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A dog was shot and a woman was grazed by a bullet at an apartment complex near UNC Charlotte Sunday, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. in a hallway of Building F at University Crossings in the 9000 block of University City Blvd. 

CMPD said the woman was possibly grazed by a bullet, and the shooter ran away. The incident was the result of an earlier argument at a different location, police said.

University Crossings issued a safety notice to residents on Sunday:

We were notified that on March 31 at approximately 3 a.m. a firearm was discharged inside a unit in building F. A resident and dog were injured. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded and is investigating. If you have any information on the incident, please call CMPD at 704-336-7600 or call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.

Firearms are not permitted on property. If you are aware of someone storing a firearm on property, please contact the management office. Please keep doors and windows locked at all times.
