Widespread issue | These are the numbers you should call if you can't reach 911

This is a widespread issue, not exclusive to Mecklenburg County.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — As part of a widespread issue being experienced across the region, dispatch centers in Mecklenburg County are experiencing telephone service provider interruptions related to communications into and out of their 911 centers. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management Office is advising the public to use a 10-digit number if they have issues reaching 911 in an emergency.

Please call 911 first. If you have difficulty connecting, use the following numbers:

  • Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department: 704-336-3237
  • Charlotte Fire Department: 704-336-3473
  • MEDIC: 704-943-6200
  • If you are unsure, dial: 704-336-3237

This is a widespread issue, not exclusive to Mecklenburg County.

If you are attempting to reach 911 in Cabarrus County and are not able to connect for any reason, please call the administrative line at 704 920-3100. Telephone companies in Southeastern US are reporting widespread issues. The carriers are working to resolve the problem.
