YORK COUNTY, S.C. -- A York County man has been arrested after attacking a woman during a white nationalist protest.

The attack caught on camera shows Balcaitis putting his hand around a woman’s neck.

The Charlottesville Police Department confirmed with NBC Charlotte, the attacker in the video is Balcaitis.

NBC Charlotte’s Billie Jean Shaw went to Balcaitis’ home to ask him about the incident, but he told her to leave.

In audio, obtained from CN2 News, Balcaitis says moments leading up to the attack the two got into a debate over discrimination.

“You say that you’re marginalized and men are trying to hold you down and oppress you but you are protected more so than I am,” he said.

We tracked down the victim Gretchen Burgess who lives in Charlottesville. She tells us she disagreed with is point.

"In the modern world, we have to compete with other people, races and women and he really didn't like the fact that we had to compete against women," Burgess, of Charlottesville, said.

"It pissed me off," Balcaitis told CN2 News. "It really struck a nerve so what I did was put my hand around her throat and pushed her back."

Burgess said Balcaitis was rallying with neo-Nazis.

“I knew if I fought, I would get hurt worst,” said Burgess. “He comes and he’s hanging out with Nazi saluting racist and he’s saying racist things that makes his a racist.”

"He's saying racist things that make him a racist," Burgess added.
