ID=28944753Troutman comes to WCNC from the nationally syndicated show "RightThisMinute", a viral video program airing in more than 190 television markets across the country. Troutman has appeared on numerous news and entertainment programs, making regular appearances on The Today Show on NBC. She is considered an industry expert in online and social media content.

"We are extremely excited to have someone of Beth's talent and reputation joining NBC Charlotte," said WCNC President and General Manager Deborah Collura. "Beth will team-up with Fred Shropshire as co-anchors of our evening news. This marks a new era for NBC Charlotte. After working in the national spotlight, Beth is coming home."

"I am extremely excited to be joining the remarkable team at WCNC," Troutman said. "It's such a humbling privilege to be able to help look out for the community I hold so dear. I feel so very fortunate to have this extraordinary opportunity in the place where I was born and raised."

Troutman previously hosted the national morning show "The Balancing Act" on Lifetime Television. She began her on-camera career in 2005 as the host of WCCB-TV's morning program "Fox News Rising" in Charlotte.

"Beth brings a unique and local outlook to the anchor desk," said Executive News Director Matt King. "She is the new generation of television journalist, who generates news content on multiple platforms. Her commitment to our state and her engaging personality will bring a fresh perspective to NBC Charlotte."

Troutman graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with degrees in Political Science and Women's Studies. At age 22 she headed to Hollywood, landing a position on the production team of "The West Wing", where she worked alongside political heavyweights such as Dee Dee Myers, Gene Sperling, Lawrence O'Donnell and Peggy Noonan. In 2004, Troutman returned to North Carolina where she ran a close race for U.S. Congress.

"I am passionate about communicating with people and telling the real stories that impact individuals on a personal level," Troutman said. "I know WCNC is the perfect home for me!"

While this is an exciting new career opportunity for Troutman, it carries a personal meaning as well.

"It's an extra blessing that I'll also be close to my family as we continue to help my mom battle ovarian cancer, " Troutman said.

Troutman grew up in Concord, NC. She attended Concord High School, where she was star track athlete. Her family still resides in the Charlotte area, owning the popular restaurant Troutman's Barbecue.
