Knights help repair Rocky River ball field

Field damaged by explosion

MINT HILL, NC -- Members of the Charlotte Knights grounds crew helped to repair Rocky River High School's baseball field on Friday.

The field, "scorched" by a recent accidental explosion, was given world-class treatment by members of the Knights front office, as well as Head Groundskeeper Matt Parrott.

An out-of-control bottle rocket burned the left side of the field.

"We heard about the incident. We came out and took a look at it and decided we could help," said Knights COO Dan Rajkowski. "We left the field better than it was when we got here."

It was a full day -- 8 hours of work. The infield had to be redone, the mound and home plate even had to be rebuilt.

"The boys are excited that we're building something special now," said Ravens coach Christian Price. "It was more than what I ever asked for and for that I'm excited."
