Day 3 of 2022 NFL Draft brings North Carolina ties in Rounds 4-7

It's the moment many football players have been waiting on.

NORTH CAROLINA, USA — Editor's Note: The video above is about the Carolina Panthers selecting Charlotte native and NC State's Ikem ''Ickey'' Ekwonu in the 2022 NFL Draft.

As the 2022 NFL Draft enters rounds four through seven, football players across the country are waiting to have their names called.  

The draft is taking place in Las Vegas on the strip, and we look forward to hearing the names of players who could be from North Carolina or even headed to the Carolina Panthers. 

Carolina Panthers Day 3 Picks

4th Round: (Pick No. 120) Carolina made a trade with Washington to move up into the 4th Round and selected Penn State linebacker, Brandon Smith.

Smith was a Third-Team All-Big Ten Selection and Butkus Award Semifinalist. He finished the season with 81 tackles and two sacks.

6th Round: (Pick No. 189) Carolina was back on the clock and drafted Virginia Tech LB Amare Barno. He started all 11 games for the Hokies at Defensive End and finished with 35 tackles and 3.5 sacks.

6th Round: (Pick No. 199) Carolina selected Tennessee OL Cade Mays with the team the second pick in the 6th Round.

7th Round: (Pick No. 242) Carolina Panthers select Baylor cornerback Kalon Barnes for their final pick of the 2022 NFL Draft

Wake Forest players selected during Day 3 of NFL Draft

4th Round: (140th overall) OL Zach Tom was drafted by Green Bay

In four years, Tom started in 37 games, including 23 at left tackle and 14 at the center, making him one of the most flexible offensive linemen in the draft class. He may even be able to play all five positions at the next level.

6th Round: (214th overall) CB Ja'Sir Taylor was drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers

UNC Players Drafted on Day 3

UNC football quarterback Sam Howell was selected by Washington in the 5th Round of the NFL Draft.

Howell wrapped up his time in Chapel Hill as the Tar Heel's all-time leader in Passing Yards and Total Offense.

Minnesota Vikings pick UNC's running back Ty Chandler in the 5th round of NFL the draft.

UNC's offense line Marcus McKethan was selected by the New York Giants in the 5th Round of the NFL Draft.  

Other NC college football players selected during Day 3 of the 2022 NFL Draft 

The New Orleans Saints pick Appalachian State linebacker D'Marco Jackson in the 5th round of the NFL Draft. 

Kansas City selects Fayetteville State University Broncos defensive back Joshua Williams in the 4th Round of the NFL Draft.
