Fed up with rising streaming fees? Here are some free options that include live TV

We all love our streaming services, but we don’t love how much we’re paying for them each month.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — It might not seem like a lot of money when you're paying for streaming services separately, but those small bills really add up when you combine them.

You're paying $15 to Netflix, $7 to Spotify and another $8 for Disney+. In a time when everyone is looking for ways to save money, streaming services may be the first item on the cutting block.

RESOURCE GUIDE: How to get ahead in 2024

The typical person spends nearly $1,000 a year on streaming subscriptions, according to a recent survey from software provider Bango. If you break it down, that's about $80 per month. And those costs are only going to get more expensive, according to ConsumerAffairs.

The good news is if you're looking to ditch your streaming package, there's a ton of free content available. You'll just have to watch commercials.

One example is the Roku Channel, a free streaming service for Roku users. It offers a wide selection of content, including hundreds of live TV channels, movies and TV shows. There is also Pluto TV, which has a mix of live and on-demand content, including moves and TV shows.

And if you’re looking for original content? You might want to check out Crackle, it's known for its original content, classic shows and a variety of movies.

Subscriptions aren't the only thing weighing down your budget, either. A lot of people often sign up for credit monitoring and other services only to forget about them, ConsumerAffairs reports. So next time you check your bank statement, double-check to make sure you're not paying something you never use.

WCNC Charlotte's Where's The Money series is all about leveling the playing field in the Carolinas by helping others and breaking down barriers.
