I-85 back open following 18-wheeler crash

A flatbed truck crashed into a concrete barrier and scattered debris across the southbound lanes of I-85 at I-77 early Wednesday morning.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — All lanes of I-85 south are back open in north Charlotte following a crash involving a tractor-trailer. 

According to police, the crash happened around 4:30 a.m. under the overpass where I-77 meets I-85. A flatbed truck overturned and lost some of its load, scattering debris across the highway.

North Carolina DOT said the road was expected to completely reopen by 12 p.m. Wednesday. 

State troopers on the scene have not determined what caused the crash. Medic was called to the crash, as well. One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
