Multiple lanes reopen on I-85 South in Cabarrus County after a crash, officials say

The road is expected to reopen by 6 p.m.

CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. — All southbound lanes of Interstate 85 reopened in Cabarrus County following a crash on Friday Oct. 20, according to NCDOT.

The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. on I-85 South near Exit 65, which is Old Beatty Ford Road near Kannapolis. The road reopened before 4 p.m. on Friday.

Cabarrus County Emergency Medical Services confirmed four people were taken to the hospital from the crash. No word on their conditions at this time.

To get around the crash, drivers were told to take Exit 68 (NC152) then turn right onto NC 152 West and proceed to US 29. Take US 29 South for approximately 10 miles to re-access I-85.
