Hail, storm clouds roll through Charlotte area

WCNC Charlotte viewers shared what they saw during Friday's storm.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — WCNC Charlotte viewers in two counties shared photos and videos of the weather around them as storms rolled through the area Thursday afternoon.

Lori Ann shared a video of the hail coming down at her house in Taylorsville in Alexander County, as did Maranda Wike Blankenship and WCNC Charlotte viewer David. Additionally, Lori Ann shared a photo of the accumulated hail after the storm rolled on.

Hail also hit across the line in Iredell County. Kelly Foster sent WCNC Charlotte a video of it falling onto her home's yard in the Love Valley community.

In Charlotte, Sue Ann Buckland captured a lightning bolt while on the 11th floor at Levine Children's Hospital. The lightning was surrounded by the pouring rain in the distance.

The hail reports from viewers largely aligned with official reports from the National Weather Service. The service found that hail fell northeast of Statesville in the Harmony community, within Taylorsville proper, and within Hiddenite and Love Valley. As of publication, the NWS has not been told of any major storm damage.
