Tropical Storm Ian Forms in the Atlantic

Tropical Storm Ian has formed in the Atlantic, but at present, it's not expected to present a threat to the United States.

(WLTX) - Tropical Storm Ian has formed in the Atlantic, but at present, it's not expected to present a threat to the United States.

The National Hurricane Center says Ian got enough organization to be classified as a tropical storm late Monday morning. It currently has maximum sustained winds of 40 miles an hour.

At present, the storm is about 1,100 miles to the southeast of Bermuda, way off in the center of the Atlantic. Current forecast models show the storm curving off to the north, then the northeast. That path would take it nowhere near the United States or any other land mass.
