Arts+ creative birthday celebrations for young artists and musicians

Charlotte nonprofit Arts+ creating a one-of-a-kind experience for children at their Uptown studio

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Celebrate a special day by creating a one-of-a-kind experience for children at the Arts+ Uptown studio. Plan engaging parties for elementary school-aged children, that also work for middle schoolers and older.

At the parties, participants get to create art or music in a working art studio with a teaching artist, forming meaningful memories with a creative experience most birthday party options do not provide.

It’s an opportunity for artistic/musical young people to introduce their friends, who may not otherwise participate in music or art, to their interests.

Studies show that structured creative play is wildly beneficial to growing minds and encourages independence to explore and solve problems, allowing children to feel more confident in their abilities. It’s the best kind of hands-on, educational fun.

The guest of honor, friends and family are invited to participate in one of the following activities:

Bookmaking: Make a handmade and hand-bound book with all of the embellishments

Jewelry making: Create a fantastic polymer clay jewelry set of earrings and a necklace (clip-ons available)

Printmaking: Discover the excitement of printmaking by creating one-of-a-kind images and learning simple stamp making

Karaoke: Make artistic faux microphones and have fun singing along to favorite songs with friends

Ukulele: Learn to play a couple songs on the ukulele and make homemade floral leis (ukuleles provided, appropriate for ages 9+)

All party guests will take home their creations at the end of the event. The reservation provides the Arts+ lounge and studio space (601 E 5th St., Suite 230) for two hours, and you are welcome to set up 30 minutes prior to the start.

As attendees arrive, there will be 30 minutes of group activities and games. Then, the art and/or music lesson and activity will take place in the studio for about one hour. Finally, guests are welcome to enjoy food and/or cake they provide in the lounge.

Parties can be booked on Friday afternoon, Saturday, or Sunday for $550 with a max of 16 children. Interested parties are encouraged to reach out at least one month in advance to ensure a time block is available.
