Beer and candy pairings for Halloween

Noda Brewing Company created a list of their beers with candy to go with it

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Ever wondered which beer pairs perfectly with a Twix, what candy complements a stout, or which brew "gose" best with Halloween gummies? Chad Henderson, head brewer and co-owner at NoDa Brewing Company, joined Charlotte Today to share how parents can make the most of those leftover Halloween stashes by pairing them with the perfect beers.

IPA and Skittles: The bitterness of IPAs contrasts brilliantly with the fruity flavors of Skittles. The citrus undertones in many IPAs can be enhanced by the tangy taste of the candy. (Hop Drop 'N Roll)

Porter and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups: A porter, with its roasted malt flavors, exhibits chocolatey and coffee undertones that can pair wonderfully with the creamy peanut butter and chocolate combination of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. (Coco Loco)

Pumpkin Ale and Candy Corn: The spices in pumpkin ales, like cinnamon and nutmeg, are complemented by the sweet, almost marshmallow-like flavor of candy corn. (Gordgeous)

Wheat Beer and Kit Kat: Wheat beers go great with the crispy wafer and milk chocolate of Kit Kat bars. The lightness of the beer is a good contrast to the rich chocolate. (Cheerwine Ale)

Juicy IPA and Sour Patch Kids: The tartness and sweetness of the Sour Patch Kids complement the fruity hop flavors and bitterness found in many juicy IPAs. (Lil Slurp)
