CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department confirmed it's investigating a homicide in a west Charlotte neighborhood overnight.
CMPD confirmed it was investigating along Brooksvale Street near Horace Street around 12:09 a.m. Sunday.
Mattew Simmons, 54-years-old was identified as the victim.
On Monday, Aug. 23 CMPD said they charged 29-year-old Shamika Rashawn Simmons with first-degree murder in this incident.
