CMPD officer charged with assault against woman

Alex Milhazes was accused of pushing a woman at the pool of an apartment complex in south Charlotte.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer was charged with assault.

The department identified the officer as Alex Milhazes. 

He's accused of pushing a woman at the pool of an apartment complex in south Charlotte.

The woman also said Milhazes slammed a gate on her ankle.  

The officer has been with the department for nearly six years.

Milhazes was already on unpaid leave when the allegations surfaced.
