Victim in southeast Charlotte homicide case identified

Police confirmed the investigation had launched just before 10 p.m. Friday evening.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man has died after a shooting that unfolded in southeast Charlotte Friday night.

Medic confirmed it responded to Pinehurst Park Drive near Providence Park Drive. The agency said the victim had died on the scene just before 10 p.m. 

On Sunday, police identified the victim as Larry Thomas Jr., 27.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department announced shortly after the scene was being investigated as a homicide. On scene, police said it happened inside of an apartment.

This marks the second homicide investigation of the day in Charlotte. Just hours earlier, CMPD said it was investigating a deadly shooting roughly 9 miles away along Boswell Road.  Officers also responded to a death investigation near that scene, along Upas Lane.
