Person killed in crash that closed I-77 northbound lanes in Charlotte

Another person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person died at the scene of a major crash on Interstate 77 in Charlotte, closing all northbound lanes near Sunset Boulevard for several hours.

Another person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, according to Medic. 

WCNC Charlotte's crew at the scene saw lanes begin to reopen around 6:30 a.m.

The person who died in the crash has not been identified.
