Tar Heels visit JCSU while in town for NCAA Tournament

Coach Hubert Davis' father played for the Golden Bulls.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Before North Carolina took the floor for a practice at Spectrum Center ahead of the NCAA Tournament, the Tar Heels visited another gym in Charlotte.

The team held a workout at Johnson C. Smith's famed Brayboy Gymnasium.

Tar Heels coach Hubert Davis' father, Hubert Davis Sr., played for the Golden Bulls and graduated from JCSU with the Class of 1969.

Maybe the visit will bring UNC some luck. The last time the team practiced in JCSU's gym in 2008, they made the Final Four.

Of course, North Carolina's not going to need much luck to make it to Phoenix this year.

The Tar Heels enter the tournament as a No. 1 seed.

North Carolina will play No. 16 Wagner on Thursday at 2:45 p.m.
