Crash involving truck on I-77 northbound near Huntersville

Multiple lanes of Interstate 77 northbound near Huntersville were closed because of the crash.

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Amazingly no one was seriously hurt in a crash that destroyed a truck on Interstate 77 in Huntersville Monday.

Photos shared by the Huntersville Fire Department show the extensive damage. They said thankfully and luckily the driver was not seriously injured.

Crews worked to remove the debris from the roadway. As a result, the general-purpose lanes were closed, leaving only the express lanes open northbound near Sam Furr Road.

The crash happened Monday shortly before 1:30 p.m. The lanes were reopened around 5 p.m., according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

Delays stretched back several miles in both directions as a result of the crash.

In total, Medic said they transported two patients from the crash who had only minor injuries.
