Crash causes delays on I-85 in Cabarrus County

Northbound I-85 was shut down Thursday afternoon due to a crash near George Liles Parkway in Concord.

CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. — The northbound lanes of Interstate 85 are back open after a crash near George Liles Parkway in Concord, transportation officials said. 

The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. near exit 54, according to DriveNC. All four northbound lanes of I-85 were briefly closed due to the crash.

Northbound traffic was backed up for several miles toward Concord Mills Boulevard due to the shutdown. NCDOT initially expected the road to be closed until around 3 p.m., but it was opened much sooner than that.
