Multi-vehicle crash on I-77 cleared in York County

Delays stretch back miles into Charlotte while portions of the road were closed during Thursday's rush hour commute.

FORT MILL, S.C. — A crash on Interstate 77 southbound in York County caused delays miles back into Charlotte during Thursday evening's rush hour commute.

Emergency crews had closed all but one lane southbound at Gold Hill Road while helping those injured, and working to clear the crash.

Delays had stretched beyond the Interstate 485 interchange in southern Mecklenburg County.

Drivers were advised to seek alternate routes, plan extra time, and watch for responding emergency vehicles.

The condition of the drivers and passengers involved in the crash were not immediately known.
