The days are growing longer with sunset now after 6 p.m.

As we inch closer to spring, the sun is now setting after 6 p.m.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The sun has finally started setting after 6 o'clock. We’ll have 10 hours and 46 minutes of daylight today. Tomorrow, the sun will set at 6:02 pm giving us 10 hours and 48 minutes of daylight.

As the days grow longer, I’m most excited about warmer days and blooming flowers, all that comes with the spring! The astronomical first day of spring is Saturday, March 20th at 5:37 am.

Also called the Vernal Equinox, on the first day of spring the sun will set at 7:35 pm with 12 hours and 8 minutes of daylight.

The word “equinox” is Latin meaning “equal night.” On this day, day and night are nearly equal.

Until then, enjoy the slightly longer days!
