More storms south and east of Charlotte

A delightful weekend follows this cold front which will cool us back to the 70s and make it feel a lot more comfortable.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Today

Highs will be either side of 80 degrees this afternoon but it is still feeling humid. And feeling even muggier down to the south. Winds are also increasing as a front is picking up the winds. Behind this front will be comfortable air (felt as early as this evening). But this front, followed by a trough will bring a chance for storms this afternoon and early evening.

Storm Potential: Clouds are building for the afternoon and clouds will get darker south and south east of Charlotte. The highest storm potential will be in Union, Lancaster, Anson, Chesterfield and Richmond County from 2-8 p.m. today. There is still a chance for a thunderstorm to end the afternoon within the Greater Charlotte area.

This Weekend

Saturday will be sunny and pleasant across the region, with highs in the mid 70s.  Winds should be around five to ten mph. Temperatures overnight will fall into the mid 50s with light winds. There is a very low chance for an isolated storm or two in the Mountains and Foothills but don't let it cancel any of your outdoor plans.

Sunday is Mother's Day and the weather will be perfect.  Skies will be sunny with lower humidity and highs in the upper 70s. Sunday night should be mostly clear with lows in the mid 50s.
