Florence forces CMS to reschedule high school football games

School officials said decisions on other athletic events will be made at a later time.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Officials at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools are preparing for Hurricane Florence by rescheduling Friday night football games.

All high school home varsity football games will be played at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. CMS said decisions on other athletic events will be made at a later time.

Schools, transportation and operations will be on a normal schedule Tuesday.

In Union County, the Monroe vs. Forest Hills game was moved to Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Several schools and universities closer to the Carolina coast are closing this week in anticipation of Florence.
